Learning More About Assistive Technology (AT)

If you are interested in learning more about assistive technology for yourself, a child, a parent or a friend there are a number of resources on the web and in communities across the country. We have provided links to one of the nationally recognized and respected non-profits that serves all disabilities and all ages, the Alliance for Technology Access (ATA). www.ataccess.org.

Alliance for Technology Access
The mission of the Alliance for Technology Access (ATA) is to connect children and adults with disabilities to technology tools.
ATA, a nonprofit organization, describes itself as unique because:

  • It was the first organization...and continues to be the only one of its kind in the nation that focuses solely on technology for people with disabilities, working on the national and local levels.
  • It promotes a consumer-directed service model.
  • It recognizes the changing need for technology over the course of a person's life, and therefore serve people of all ages and all disabilities
  • It works closely with technology companies to ensure the best and most accessible products possible.
